Frequently Asked Questions About Our NYC Therapists
-
During your free consultation, we’ll learn what you want to work on and what you’re looking for in a therapist. We consider each clinician’s specialties, personality, therapy style, availability, insurance participation, and fee. You’ll be personally matched with a therapist who fits your needs and preferences, never randomly assigned.
-
That’s completely okay. You don’t need to choose a therapist before contacting us. Tell us what you’re experiencing, the kind of support you want, and any preferences you have. We’ll recommend the NYC therapist on our team who we believe offers the strongest clinical and personal fit.
-
Yes. The relationship between you and your therapist is an important part of successful therapy. If the connection doesn’t feel right, we encourage you to tell us. We can help you transition to another therapist within Gluck Psychology Collective whose personality, approach, or area of expertise may be a better fit.
-
Yes. Our therapists offer in-person therapy at our Flatiron office in Manhattan and virtual therapy for clients located throughout New York State.
Availability varies by clinician, so we’ll consider your location, schedule, and preferred session format when recommending a therapist.

Olivia Parsons, Kate van der Merwe, Whitney Vairin, and ClaraGrace Pavelka are in-network with Aetna.
Reduced-rate therapy is available with our clinical fellows, including Emma Hodge, Olivia Newman, and Tara Cooney.
We also offer private-pay and out-of-network therapy options at different fee levels.

-
A psychologist has doctoral-level training in psychology. An LMSW is a licensed master social worker who provides psychotherapy under clinical supervision. An MFT-LP has graduate training in marriage and family therapy and practices under a limited permit while completing licensure requirements.
Clinical fellows are advanced therapists-in-training who provide reduced-rate therapy under close supervision from licensed clinicians.
The best credential for you depends on your needs, but therapist fit is always more important than the letters after someone’s name.
